FRY’S OPEN RETURNS TO SCOTTSDALE AFTER SUCCESSFUL INAUGURAL SEASON
The PGA TOUR is returning to Scottsdale this fall for the Frys.com Open, formerly the Fry’s Electronic Open. The tournament will be played at Grayhawk Golf Club Oct. 22-26 and all four rounds are set to broadcast on The Golf Channel. Last year’s inaugural Fry’s Open also was played in Scottsdale with golfer Mike Weir taking home the first place check of $900,000. PGA favorites like Phil Mickelson, J.B. Holmes and Tom Lehman also were on the bill in 2007. This year’s event will feature a full field of 132 players and a purse of $5 million with Weir returning as the defending champion.
